BRIEF REPORT ABOUT NATIONAL CONFERENCE SPONSORED BY GUJCOST
DST – GUJCOST sponsored two days national conference on “Adverse Drug Reaction Reporting and Monitoring is Prime Need in INDIA” organized at Indubhai Patel College of Pharmacy & Research Centre, Dharmaj of the dated 5th & 6th January 2019. This conference was organized by Dr. Upama Trivedi as a Coordinator under the guidance of Dr. Nehal Shah, Principal of host institute. On 5th March, Inaugural function of the conference began with the Indian tradition culture with the lighting of the lamp by Chief Guest, Shri Dr. Navinbhai Sheth, Vice Chancellor of Gujarat Technological University, Guest of Honor Dr (Mrs). Vandana Patel, Principal of Babaria Institute of Pharmacy, Baroda, Shri Jitendra Patel, Founder President and Chairman of Sanskruti Sanraksha Charitable Trust, Shri Devangbhai Patel (IPCOWAL Parivar), Industrialist and Philenthropist and Syndicate member of Sardar Patel University and Shri Chadrakant Patel, Managing Trustee Sanskruti Sanraksha Charitable Trust simultaneous recitation of some shlokas in praise of Almighty by the student of host institute.At the outset of Inaugural function, Dr. Nehal Shah introduced the dignitaries on the dais and Shri Chandrakantbhai Patel welcomed the guest with holy plant of Tulsi. Dr. Upama Trivedi, gave a briefly introduced about the conference.
In his inaugural address, Dr. Navin Sheth gave some clues and legal aspects in his key note address and stressed upon redefining role of pharmacist and urged to boldly accept these challenges ahead for strengthening their own status in transparent manner.... He congratulated to the organizers of the host institute for providing such platform and opportunity & exploring further new level of thinking and understanding related to theme of the conference, as one of the first institute amongst 85 pharmacy institutes affiliated to Gujarat Technological University.
Dr. Vandana Patel blessed the participants and congratulated the organizers of the conference for putting in sincere efforts to increase awareness of responsibilities of pharmacist as an integral part of health care system, specifically in relation to reporting the adverse drug reaction. The inaugural function concluded with the Vote of Thanks proposed by Dr. Akshay Shah, Associate Professor of Host Institute.
The Scientific session comprised of a series of three plenary lecturers delivered by Eminent Speakers on various aspects of the theme of the conference.
The First Scientific session began with a highly informative lecture on the topic “Scope of Pharmacovigilance & ADR Reporting” by Dr. Mira Desai, Professor and Head Dept. of Pharmacology at B, J. Medical College, Ahmedabad. Participant were impressed about the way the speaker she delivered the talk on the topic assigned to her. Organizer really enjoyed her experience and feel happy with her deep and productive presentation.
Post lunch session began with Dr. B. M. Sattigeri, Professor and Head, Dept. of Pharmacology at Sumandeep Medical College, Baroda. She delivered lecture on “Community Pharmacists: Their Role and Responsibility in Pharmacovigilance”. She has described the duty and role of pharmacist regarding the ADRs reporting.
Dr. Parloop Bhatt, Associate Professor, L. M. College of Pharmacy, Ahmedabad, delivered lecture on “Serious Adverse Event and Compensation”. She not only given a knowledgeable presentation but discussed with the student on various issue regarding the adverse drug reaction compensation that was the really awesome session of the conference. The 1st day session was end with the Hi-Tea.
Next morning, 6th Jan 2019 first plenary lecture was delivered by Dr. Barna Ganguly, Prof. & Head, Dept. of Pharmacology, Pramukhswami medical college, karamsad. She share her expertise on “Challenges of Pharmacovigilance in Indian set up”. She aware the participant in relation to the presence scenario of India regarding the pharmacovigilance.
Dr. Manish Rachchh, Director (R & D) & CEO, Accuprec Research Labs Pvt Ltd., Ahmedabad shared his views on Adr monitoring System. He make the session interactive and participant raised lot of questions about the ADR reporting. Dr. Manish with his nice way not only answered the students but cleared all the doubt of the participants.
The last session of the day completed with the Poster Presentation competition related to the theme of conference. Dr. Naitik Trivedi, Senior Lecturer of Government Aided, A. R. College of Pharmacy, Vallabh VIdyanagar and Dr. Akshay Shah, Associate Professor at IPCPRC, Dharmaj adjudged various poster. Total 28 poster were presented by the various participant and the judges appreciated the posters & stressed the importance of many more such creative activities to develop skill in young participants and provide them a platform to showcase their thought. All posters were impressive which made it a tough task for judges to select winners.
The Conference concluded with inspiring valedictory address by Dr. Rohan Parikh, well known Cardiologist, Akansha Hospital and Research Centre, Anand as chief guest for the valedictory function and Dr. Rakesh Sinha, Principal of Physiotherapy college dharmaj as Guest of honor. The chief guest and guest of honor of the conference has congratulate the organizer for successful completion of the conference also they have acknowledged and motivated the winner of poster presenter participants with trophy and certificate.
A detail report of the conference was presented by Dr. Nehal Shah. Totally 129 participant has participated into the conference from all zone of the Gujarat and certificate of participation was also awarded to all participants to encourage them. At the end of conference Dr. Upama Trivedi passed her thanks to DST-GUJCOST, Sanskruti Sanraksha Charitable Trust, Chief Guest and Guest of Honor of Inaugural and Valedictory function, Members of various committees, all resource persons, judges and participants for their support in making this conference a grand success. The anchoring of entire programme was effectively and smoothly conducted by the students of Pharm D and B.Pharm.At the end of the conference all the participant and guest positioned for the National Anthem.
5th International Conference on “Modern Trends in Pharmaceutical Education and Research”
An international conference was organized by Indubhai Patel College of Pharmacy and Research Centre, in association with Association of Pharmacy Professionals Gujarat Branch in collaboration with APP West Indies International Branch on 10th December 2017.
The conference was a grand success with more than 350 delegates from Gujarat and nearby states participated in the conference. Renowned personalities from India and Abroad, like Dr Pradeep K Sahu, Dr Alka Agarwal and Dr Gunjan Jadon highlighted on recent trends in pharmaceutical education and research. A total of 75 posters on the above topic were invited for presentation and best three posters were awarded in their respective categories.
The conference was inaugurated by Shri Devang Patel, Industrialist and Philanthropist, Shri Jitendra Patel, Shri Chandarakant Patel, Dr B N Suhagia and Dr C N Patel. With the commencement of the guest talk by Shri Devang Patel, the conference was enlightened by guest lecture from our international and national guest speakers.
Apart from awards to delegates three special awards were given viz., Dr B.N. Suhagia as Best Researcher, Dr C. N. Patel as Best Teacher and Miss Hiteshi Chadha as Best Student of the Year, for the individual excellence shown in their respective fields.
The programme was concluded with cultural event by students of IPCPRC followed by valedictory.
